About D. Diorio

D. Diorio has been published on Mouseprose, Hot Chalks Lesson Page, Rainbow Rumpus, in Brooklyn Parent’s Magazine, and her art lessons have appeared on Kinderarts.com, K12 Academics, Artsonia, Pack-o-Fun's Art Smarts feature, and Schooldays magazine. Her illustrations have been published on Guardian Angel Kids, Bedtime Story, and Berry Blue Haiku online ezines and Crow Toes Quarterly children's literary arts magazine.

An art teacher for mostly children of twenty years, D. Diorio has created numerous public arts projects such as a parent-child multi-cultural mosaic through the Parents as Arts Partners Award. Also among her projects, D. Diorio has coordinated a three-dimensional children's mural for Catskill Library through First Niagara Bank and a community mural for children of a homeless shelter through Project Hospitality's Taking Art to Heart program on Staten Island, New York.

D. Diorio was awarded a Masters Degree in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and undergraduate degrees in English and Fine Arts. She has been awarded a certificate of completion through The Institute of Children’s Literature and has studied art and literature at Scuola Lorenzo de'Medici in Florence, Italy. Her art has been exhibited at the Queens Museum of Art, The Crocker Art Museum of Sacramento, The Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, along with numerous national galleries.

A member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and international education society, Kappa Delta Pi, D. Diorio resides in the Home of the Hudson River School Artists in upstate New York.
